The Ted Nickerson-Tom Corbett-Sherlock Holmes Connection

It's probably fair to say that no other fictional character has been pastiched as often, as well, and as badly as Sherlock Holmes.

Still, it comes as something of a surprise to learn that the actor who portrayed Nancy Drew's boyfriend Ted Nickerson and rocket pilot Tom Corbett, Space Cadet, in his later years turned his hand to writing pastiches of Sherlock Holmes.
A Wikipedia article outlines Frankie (later Frank) Thomas's career in films and afterwards. Then:
In the late 1970s he began writing and publishing novels and short-story collections featuring consulting detective Sherlock Holmes.
Here is Thomas's Holmes bibliography:
* (1979). SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE GOLDEN BIRD.
* (1980). SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE SACRED SWORD.
* (1984). SECRET CASES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES.
* (1985). SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE TREASURE TRAIN.
* (1986). SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE MASQUERADE MURDERS.
* (1989). SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE BIZARRE ALIBI.
* (2000). SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE PANAMANIAN GIRLS.
* (2002). SHERLOCK HOLMES MYSTERY TALES.
* (2002). THE SECRET FILES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES.
The last title [SECRET FILES] contains these stories:
"The Blue Eyed Dog"
"The Four Detectives"
"A Hand at the Throat"
"The Hoax"
"The Pilfered Paintings"
"The Rajah's Ruby"
"The Rangoon Jade"
"Sherlock's Christmas Gift"
"The Three Hats"
